My little Heartstory

Peter Keiser

An avid racing cyclist, musician Peter Keiser from Aargau felt fit and had no health problems. However, after heart problems arose following a racing bike ride, he examined himself by cardiologist Karl Speiser, MD. He was referred by the latter due to heart valve insufficiency to Prof. Dr. med. Alberto Weber from HerzZentrum Hirslanden in Zurich . The disease made a surgical intervention in the reconstruction of the mitral valve indispensable.

Prof. Dr. med. Alberto Weber informed Mr. Keiser in detail about the upcoming surgery. He performed some preliminary examinations to get an exact picture of the severity of the disease. Unfortunately, the procedure, scheduled for early April 2021, had to be postponed by two months due to a fully occupied intensive care unit. However, Mr. Keiser's condition allowed the delay without hesitation.

The operation began early in the morning and lasted about five hours. This was followed by a one-week observation period at the heart clinic. Mr. Keiser was able to see for himself the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. In the coming weeks, the focus was on rehab, followed by a detailed follow-up examination by Dr. med. Karl Speiser and Prof. Dr. med. Alberto Weber about three months after the operation.

In the final review, the doctors were more than satisfied with the outcome of the surgery and the progress after rehab. Peter Keiser is now fully recovered and leads a normal everyday life. He felt in good hands with Alberto Weber, MD, and praised the team at the HerzZentrum and the food.
