In 2020, Patricia Heiniger, a healthy woman, suddenly felt unwell while surfing. She fell off the surfboard and could not get back on. Even at home, her condition did not improve. Finally, due to the ongoing corona pandemic, she went to the hospital to perform a corona test.

Roland Beeler had been suffering from respiratory problems for a long time, mainly during sports activities. For this reason, he saw a heart specialist at the beginning of the Corona Lockdown. The cause of Mr. Beeler's complaints was identified during a detailed examination with the help of an ultrasound.

Due to problems with cholesterol, Franco Müller had already been undergoing treatment by a specialist for some time. Unfortunately, the patient's health deteriorated visibly by winter 2019, so the attending physician considered surgical treatment unavoidable.

Cardiology

The team at the Heart Center Hirslanden Zurich consists of eight invasive and two non-invasive cardiologists .Cardiology focuses on diagnosing and treating arterial hypertension and other circulatory diseases, especially acute and chronic coronary heart disease. Additional competencies lie in diagnosing and treating structural cardiopathies such as heart valve diseases, congenital disabilities, or the aorta's diseases. These mainly include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) or transcatheter mitral or tricuspidal valve repair or replacement (Mitraclip, Pascal, Cardioband, Chordart, etc) and aortic endovascular stent implantation (EVAR).

The Heart Center Hirslanden Zurich also has proven expertise in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias of all degrees of severity. The rhythmological spectrum also includes the implantation of pacemakers or other antiarrhythmic systems.

Cardiac imaging methods such as echocardiography, computed tomography or radiation-free magnetic resonance imaging are used for the non-invasive diagnosis of cardiac and cardiovascular diseases.

HEART AND THORACIC VASCULAR SURGERY

The heart surgery department of the Heart Center Hirslanden Zurich is a minimally invasive valve surgery and coronary bypass surgery leader. An increasing number of complex combination interventions on heart valves and coronary arteries are also being performed. Available interventions on the aorta and carotid artery also belong to the extended cardiac surgery spectrum.

The heart surgery team also has many years of experience in treating patients with severe heart failure and is trained in the use of circulatory support systems. As an innovative field, robotics is a scientific and clinical field of activity for innovative heart operations.

HISTORY

The Heart Center Hirslanden Zurich is a private medical institution and one of Switzerland's leading heart clinics. It was founded in 1987 by three cardiologists and two heart surgeons. Thus, the heartteam outside of the University Hospital Zurich became possible.

We have more than 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
